The sure prediction is that the Bengals will again only keep two passers-by. Brandon Allen has shown that he can be a capable backup. If he is put back on duty, the outlook on paper for 2021 looks much better on the roster around him than last year.
Both Shurmur and Dungey are worthwhile development types, but the Bengali are in trouble if they need to get to this spot on the depth map. The Ryan Finley project, for example, just didn’t work. It’s Burrow and Allen who go into the season, save for something unforeseen.
