Bruce Drennan rips Cleveland fan: ‘You are an fool’

A note to all aspiring sports producers: Never allow fans to attend a post game show, especially after their team has lost.

The entire city of Cleveland found out this Thursday when Bruce Drennan blew up a fan base Cleveland’s 2-3 defeat to the Detroit Tigers on opening day.

It all started after a fan called on the post-game show to criticize Cleveland’s wrongdoing. The fan notes that opposing teams can simply walk with Jose Ramirez and put pressure on the rest of Cleveland’s offenses to produce. It can be said that Drennan isn’t happy with the criticism, but things escalate after the fan questions Franmil Reyes‘Approaching the plate.

At this point, Drennan can no longer hold his tongue. He interferes by saying, “I think you missed a lot of the games that Reyes beat in the clutch last year.” The fan tries to answer, but Drennan quickly drowns him out by calling the fan “an idiot”.

It’s all snowballs from there.

Here are some of Drennan’s quotes in case you missed them:

• “You’re an idiot.”
• “You’re an idiot and don’t know baseball.”
• “You’re an idiot.”
• “They know nothing.”
• “You don’t know squat, you stupid idiot.”
• “That proves what an ignoramus you are.”
• “Leave our show!”
• “Fair weather idiot.”
• “All right, we will continue here.”

After Drennan knocks the caller out of the air, he realizes how ridiculous that exchange looked on live television. He tries to move on to another subject, but laughs and implies that he knows this was a bit of an exaggeration.

Given that it is April 1st, we reserve the right to hope that this was just an elaborate April Fool’s Day joke. If so, well, you have us. If not, don’t expect Drennan to handle any more postgame fan calls in the near future.
