The fire was reported at an apartment complex on the 1500 block of Winchell Avenue around 3 p.m. The 3-year-old boy and his grandmother were dragged out of the building. This boy was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Local officials say the 3-year-old boy lit incense and caught a burning couch. This boy then hid under a bed, officials said, as his grandmother tried to pull him out of the burning apartment. The child’s grandmother was eventually helped out of the building by a neighbor. Firefighters eventually found the boy in the house and took him to the hospital. The grandmother was not injured. The fire is currently under control but the crews say they will be on site for some time. The damage is estimated at about $ 15,000.
