Press release from friends of the Cleveland Mountain Police:

March 21, 2021

The history and role of the Cleveland Mounted Police Unit in the community police force is posted on a new website, according to Woods King III, chief officer of the Cleveland Mounted Police Charitable Trust. The trust pays for the website and its maintenance.

“We believe the entire northeast Ohio region will love to read about the past and present of the Cleveland Mounted Police Unit,” said King. “The photography and freshness of this website captures the personality of this particular Cleveland treasure and the example of the community police force at work. The mounted police are sure to reflect the image of the city of Cleveland in a positive way.”

The website states that the Cleveland Mounted Police Unit is attached to the Transportation Department. According to the website, the city pays for the stables that house the horses and the salaries of the officers who ride and groom them, but it doesn’t pay to buy the horses or any other extraordinary expense. Donations are welcome.
