With the 132nd election in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns selected defensive tackle Tommy Togiai Ohio State.

The 6-foot-1 and 296-pound Togiai was a year-old starter for the Buckeyes.

Scouting reports

Here is a scouting report from The athlete Dane Bruglerwho had Togiai as the 8th defensive tackle on his board:

As a one-year starter in the US state of Ohio, Togiai played the one-technique position in the four-man front of defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs and mainly positioned himself above the A gap. He was one of the prizes in the 2018 recruiting class and after two seasons he became a starter in 2020 and became arguably the Buckeyes’ most valuable defense player. A tyrant in the trenches, Togiai has outstanding strength and flexibility through his hips for anchoring, shedding and playing on the border. He takes the mantra “Hard work always beats talent” to heart, never accepts games and competes with relentless effort. Overall, Togiai needs to develop his craftsmanship and timing as a pass rusher, but he has developed strength, physical hands, and burgeoning instincts. As a strong run defender, he projects upwards with a pass rush.

How it goes with the Browns

The Browns definitely need depth in the defensive tackle position behind planned starters Malik Jackson and Andrew Billings. Sheldon Day and Jordan Elliott are the only other players currently on the roster. So Togiai seems to have the opportunity to show that he deserves a place in the squad.
