Washington Boys Soccer Rally past Columbus | KCII Radio – The One to Count On
It was a KCII battle on the field in Columbus Junction on Thursday, and the Washington boys’ soccer team made a comeback to beat the Wildcats 3-2.
Columbus took control early with goals in the seventh and 35th minutes and took a 2-0 lead, but just before half-time, Zac Stout scored from a penalty to reduce the half-time deficit to 2-1. Brayan Arreola scored to equalize mid-way through the second half and 10 minutes later the freshman enlisted support for Stout to help determine the winners list. DaShaun Westphal-Edwards made five saves on the other end and Cole Anderson three. The Demons improve to 9-4 and complete the regular season on Monday at Hillcrest Academy. The wildcats fell to 7-5. The Substate pairings came out for the boys this week and Washington will face Fairfield in Fort Madison on Thursday, while Columbus will host Danville on the same day.
The Washington girls entertained Iowa City Liberty (9-4) and had a hard time keeping up with an 8-1 fall. The demons fall on 6-5 and travel to Centerville on Tuesday. The playoff pairings have also been released for the girls and Washington will travel to Marion (9-3) on May 28th.
