Honor Flight, an organization that transports veterans across the country to memorials in Washington, DC, has decided to postpone its flights for tri-state veterans this spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Flights that were supposed to leave Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky International Airport on April 20th and May 18th have been postponed. Honor flight leaders in three states said the decision was made by examining the current spread of COVID-19 and the vaccination schedule for COVID-19. The leaders made a decision to postpone honor flights while keeping their mission in mind – “to honor the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans.” Honor Flight leadership determined that the health and safety of veterans are a top priority. “The next few months will be critical to the resumption of our flights,” wrote Honor Flight Tri-State in a press release on Tuesday. American Airlines has worked with Ehrenflug to postpone the flights to a later date at no additional cost. Honor Flight Tri-State didn’t say when the honor flights will be postponed but said they will keep the public informed as soon as they know more. “Our veterans put their lives on the line to defend us – and now it’s our turn to protect them and their health,” Honor Flight Tri-State said in the press release.
