“We were down early and I was just focused on getting our team a run,” she said. “I hit a good pitch in the zone and I swung and it went out.”

A key sequence in the game happened in the fourth inning. One inning after their Grand Slam, Gardner came back to hit with loaded bases. She fouled several pitches in an epic fight before Rosonke finally beat her swinging.
“I knew that if I went for a walk with her, it would catch up, and I didn’t want that,” said Rosonke. “I wanted to go after her and it felt great to get this strikeout.
“I’ve played my whole life and I have a great team behind me that supports me. There isn’t a lot of pressure on me because I have a great defense.
