Police: Man arrested after committing string of crimes in west Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A man was arrested after allegedly committing a series of crimes in West Columbus.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, 34-year-old Nicholas Wittekind robbed a Fifth Third Bank at around 1:55 p.m. on January 20. Police said he also robbed the stores of Target, Old Navy and Michael that same day.

The bank he allegedly robbed was in a Kroger on the 3600 block on Soldano Boulevard. “

Police said the suspect went to the bank and sent the cashier a note demanding money. The suspect left the bank with an unknown amount of money and fled the scene in a white Ford Flex. The police said the car was also stolen.

Police said he also robbed Big Lots and Kroger on Jan. 19. The value of the stolen goods and money is currently unknown.
