COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) – After a year-long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Miss Georgia pageant is returning to Columbus. The pageant will take place from June 15-19, 2021.

Today attendees attended the Miss Georgia Forum where Executive Director Trina Pruitt discussed guidelines and protocols for the pageant weekend, a task even more important given the ongoing pandemic.

“Miss Georgia happens not only at the RiverCenter, but also in the Columbus State University dormitories, here in the ironworks,” Pruitt told Protocols about the COVID-19 pandemic. “

Although the pageant is three months away, Mary Wilhelmina Hodges says this forum is the prelude to the pageant.

“It is an orientation and very helpful for the new candidates. You will get to know the guidelines and especially with COVID there will be more security procedures this year, ”said Hodges. “Over the next three months they will prepare for the different phases of the competition.”

There will be 76 participants from all over Georgia and a limited number of spectators will be able to watch the pageant in person.

Pruitt thanked the Columbus leaders and the Department of Health for working with them to ensure a safe pageant week.

Pageant tickets should be available at the box office in May.
