YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Mary E. Horner, 67, died Wednesday June 28, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
Mary was born on June 7, 1954 in Youngstown to Cecil and Gladys Ware McInnis.
Mary lived in the area all her life, graduating from Boardman High School in 1973, the first senior year of the newly built high school.

Mary has worked in retail and hospitality for the majority of her career, including over 15 years managing former Hot Sam’s at Southern Park Mall.
Compassionate, loving, and sensitive in nature, Mary was blessed with the role of a born caregiver. Always looking for ways to help and assist those in need, she selflessly and lovingly cared for her parents for many years as their health deteriorated.
Mary was happiest when she was around her family and she enjoyed cooking for her, which always made family reunions special and memorable. She was very proud of her legacy and enjoyed countless hours traveling and researching her ancestors.
Mary’s other favorite interests included playing bingo, reading spiritual works, family travel, and music, especially country. Her beautiful singing voice, her quick wit, her open-mindedness and her warm smile will be fondly remembered by everyone who loved her. Although Mary suffered from health problems for some time, her strong will and determination have never stopped her from taking care of anything and everyone. Your strength to keep going has been really inspiring!
Her 32-year-old husband Robert Horner, whom she married on her 26th birthday, preceded her in death on February 5, 2013.
She is survived by her son and most delighted, Shane R. Horner of Youngstown; Brothers, Larry McInnis of Long Beach, Calif. And Eugene “Mac” (Diane) McInnis of Porterville, Calif., And a number of special relatives and friends.
Next to her parents and her husband; Mary’s death was preceded by sisters Diana Warchol, Linda Simanton and LaDonna McMillen and brothers John and James McInnis.
A private family celebration dedicated to Mary’s life will take place at a later date.
The arrangements are handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home.
