The Council of the Catholic Church of San Marco, Knights of Columbus, 6344, presented their 46th annual golf tournament on March 28th at the Island Country Club. After the cancellation last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s event turned out to be a complete success, as a total of 132 golfers were present. It was a beautiful day when a beautiful breeze accompanied the sunny sky. And the Island Country Club did their best again as the space for the event was in beautiful condition and the support services were excellent.
Tournament sponsors for the event benefiting local charities included Tonkinson Financial, CJ’s on the Bay, Aldo and Mary Pat Palombo, Condee Cooling, and DeVoe Cadillac. They were also supported by over 52 individual hole sponsors.
At the end of the day there were numerous awards as there were 20 individual and team winners in the Best Ball Scramble event. The four men’s first place winners were Tom Lind, Moose O’Regan, Gregg Baldwin and Bob Thebeau. The men’s runner-up was Dave McCall, Eric Bull, Mike McMahon and Scott Glutting. The First Place Mixed Foursome winners were Curt Koon, Jacquie Koon, Vip Grover, and Brian Henry. Second place winners of the Mixed Foursome were Bill Rogers, Bobbie Rogers, John Minicozzi, and Charles Meyer.
The closest to the pin winners were Jim Hornack and Joan Cardello. The Longest Drive winners were Dave McCall and Roe Tamagni.
A great day on the links was followed by a fantastic varied menu of dinner prepared by the ICC chef and served al fresco by his excellent staff.
Proceeds from the event will be used by the Knights of Columbus to support local charities, student grants, youth programs, Special Olympics, and similar activities. As much as the good the Council of the Knights of Columbus has done in the past year, it calls upon your help in doing more. They invite you to join the council and help them make a difference in the community.
