Hundreds anticipated for Eid Al Adha celebrations at Islamic Heart of Larger Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Eid Al Adha celebrations begin Tuesday morning with two billion Muslims around the world celebrating the Festival of Sacrifice. Thousands of people in our community will be celebrating at the Greater Toledo Islamic Center this morning.

“Many of the holidays we had during Covid were on Zoom, Facebook Live. again we are doing it safely, ”said Ahmad Taouil, President of the Greater Toledo Islamic Center.

The event takes place completely outdoors on the 80 hectare campus. Parishioners will participate in prayers, games, visits to graves, and prepare to donate £ 10 meals and boxes of essentials to those in need on Saturday.

The festival of sacrifice honors God’s command, which was a test of the prophet Abraham’s willingness and commitment to obey the Lord’s command to sacrifice his son. In return, God called him to sacrifice an animal instead.

According to the center’s website:

Takbeerat starts at 9:30 am. Please do wudu at home and bring your own prayer rug. Our entire program will be out. Remember to bring cash for the celebrations following our Eid program.

“It’s a great party. It is very important aspects of our religion that teach us moderation and tolerance and then feeding the poor is a very important aspect of this holiday, so we give away lambs and give money to the poor, ”Taouil said.
