CLEVELAND, Ohio – A 24-year-old woman was shot dead early Saturday after quarreling at a party in an apartment building in downtown Cleveland, Cleveland police said.

The officers responded to the 19th floor of a skyscraper on the 1800 block of East 12th Street at around 3:20 a.m. Saturday. Cleveland Police Spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said. Police found a woman who was shot multiple times in a stairwell in the building.

The woman was taken to MetroHealth by paramedics, where she died, Ciaccia said. Your identity will be made public by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office once your family is notified.

Police learned the woman was at a large party that was taking place in an apartment in the building, Ciaccia said. There was an argument between some women at the party, and the shooting victim and others ran away from the party.

The alleged gunman chased the woman and shot her as she entered the stairwell, Ciaccia said. Investigators did not publicly identify a suspect in the shooting.

No arrests have been made and the investigation continues, Ciaccia said.
