YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The DreDay Foundation 32 brought their basketball camp to the Youngstown YMCA on Saturday.
Former professional basketball player D’Aundray Brown co-founded the foundation. The basketball program has helped over 1,100 children over the past seven years.
Saturday was her second of three camps that summer.
“Get her out of the house, get her going with some exercise, some fitness, and of course some basketball,” said Brown.

Basketball isn’t the only thing kids do in camp – the morning starts with homework and helps kids take responsibility. Brown said camps like this one from his childhood had an impact on how he runs his camps.
“Taking a walk in a gym and seeing someone way taller than you, someone you might look up to, is just a blessing and means a lot,” Brown said.
Brown also played in Youngstown’s Respect Basketball League. His off-court efforts with DreDay earned him the league’s Dedication Award.
“I know how important it is to have basketball camps and what it meant for me and my life and where the sport has taken me. So just my chance for me and my family to give something back to the youth, ”said Brown.
