The ticket deadline for the Exhibit Columbus Preview Party at 5:00 p.m. on August 20 under a tent in Mill Race Park in the city center has been extended to Sunday, according to the organizers on Exponatcolumbus.org.
More than 600 tickets have currently been sold, according to Jeff Baker, who coordinates the rain-or-shine event with John Pickett. In both 2017 and 2019, the gala drew 700 people, including visitors and media across the country and worldwide.
“Things are going well,” said Baker. “It’s such a great community party.”
The meeting will be presented by MyTruAdvantage, a SIHO product. Ticket prices start at $ 200.
The event features a meal, music, speakers, and designers and manufacturers, including local and regional contributors, of the 13 installations slated for the biennial exhibition that highlights art, architecture, design, and community. The pop-up style architecture in the installations rotates a story or key element from the city’s iconic modernist architecture that is nearby.
Designers call this the idea that creations are “in conversation with” pieces by world-class architects like IM Pei and Eliel Saarinen.
The 2017 exhibition drew around 40,000 people who interacted with installations, and the 2019 exhibition drew around 30,000 people, according to the organizers. These numbers exclude many others responding on websites as well as on social media and print media around the world.
The theme of the exhibition, which runs through November 28, is “New Center: From Main Street to Megalopolis, What is the Future of the Middle City?” Watershed associated regions.
