Columbus, Ga. (WRBL) – There is a lot going on with COVID in Georgia and Muscogee Counties.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health records, 62,224 people in Muscogee County are fully vaccinated – 32 percent.
More than 70,500 received at least one dose – 36 percent.
The 7-day moving average for vaccinations rose from 195 on Friday to 225 today.
Forty-one people were shot today at the Columbus Health Department on Veterans Parkway. She gets the rest of it in pharmacies and health facilities across the city.
Jack Lockwood, the Columbus Health Department’s risk communicator, stated this in an interview Monday.
“I think people are concerned about the increase in delta variant cases in the area,” Lockwood said. “And that encourages them to get vaccinated to protect themselves and their loved ones.”
Hospital stays. Climb. On Sunday, 81 people were admitted to Columbus’ two hospital systems – Piedmont Columbus Regional and St. Francis-Emory Healthcare.
New cases since the weekend. The 7-day moving average of positive cases has dropped from 38 to 32 in the past three days.
The Columbus Health Department has a strike team that fired on the spot.
“The health department is encouraging people to get vaccinated,” Lockwood said. “We have an extensive marketing campaign underway. We work a lot with community partners. We encouraged them to encourage people to get vaccinated. We can actually go to different places to have vaccinations with a strike team on site. “
