Columbus police arrest Freetown lady on warrant

Columbus Police arrested a Jackson County woman Friday after discovering an arrest warrant against her and later found narcotics in her purse.

Police were sent to Walmart, 735 Whitfield Drive at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Officers made contact with 28-year-old Ms. Natasha L. Owens of Freetown in the store’s parking lot and found that she had a warrant for her arrest, Lt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus Police Department.

Owens was taken into custody, and officers later found fentanyl in her purse, Harris said.

Owens was transferred to Bartholomew County Jail, Columbus, on the Jennings County arrest warrant and preliminary charge of possession of a narcotic drug.

She was held without bond.
