ATLANTA – The only thing that could hold back Cincinnati Red’s top contender Hunter Greene in the Triple-A Louisville is a minor injury to his shoulder.
Greene was scratched Wednesday from his start in Louisville for irritation to his right AC joint, where the collarbone connects to the shoulder blade. He will probably make his next start, announced the Reds.

The 22 year old right handed man has been phenomenal over the past month. He has an ERA of 1.98 in his last five starts, skipping 37 and going seven over 27 1/3 innings. He allowed a hit in 6 1/3 shutout innings during his outing last week and hit 102 mph on his fastball.
It is not surprising that the Reds are careful with Greene’s arm. There was no minor league season so he amassed around 100 innings from his time at the alternate location and home training. He missed the 2019 season because of an operation on Tommy John.

Between Louisville and Double-A Chattanooga, Greene has a 2.84 ERA in 16 starts. He has completed 120 strikeouts and 31 walks in 85 2/3 innings. He regularly sits over 100 mph on his fastball, but the development of his slider and advancement has taken him to another level.
Greene, number 2 in the 2017 MLB Draft, is ranked 43rd best prospect in the sport by Baseball America.
