Cincinnati Public Colleges Scholar Providers T.O.O.L. Talks Scheduled For 2021-22

What happens to your child with a disability after graduating from high school? Cincinnati Public Schools is offering TOOL Talks as a way to help.

TOOL talks – Transition chances and life options – Providing information to help them reach adulthood. The events are coordinated by the Student Service Department of the CPS.

TOOL Talks take place from September 2021 to May 2022 every first Thursday of the month from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Google Meet.

Topics are offered that are of interest to parents and guardians as well as young adults.

Transition Opportunities and Options for Life (TOOL) Talks 2021-22

  • Sep 2, 2021: Post-Secondary Transition: How the IEP Supports Your Child’s Goals After High School
  • October 7, 2021: Determine your life course: Organize a plan for life after high school now
  • November 4, 2021: Hamilton County government agencies that can provide services for your child with disabilities (DDS, OOD, and Easterseals)
  • December 2, 2021: Navigate to Benefits for Your Disabled Child
  • January 6, 2022: How to prepare your child for an independent life
  • February 3, 2022: Employment and willingness to work survey
  • March 3, 2022: Assisted decision-making: does my child need guardianship?
  • April 7, 2022: What to do this summer Leisure, work and recreational opportunities for my child
  • May 2022: Second annual parent university. Further information follows.
