63-year-old Cleveland man dies after stabbing girl after which stabbing himself

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A 63-year-old man died Saturday night after stabbing a woman on the 900 block of Nathaniel Road and then stabbing himself.

Police say Evodio Hendrix was staying with a 53-year-old woman on Nathaniel Road when he started arguing with her for not having sex with him. The woman told the police she had left her bedroom, but Hendrix followed her and kept yelling at her.

She tried to call 9-1-1 but Hendrix picked up her phone, according to a police report. When she tried to call again, Hendrix slapped her in the face. At one point during the fight, Hendrix brandished a knife and the two fought for it. The woman told the police that she had the knife once, but Hendrix retrieved it and stabbed her in the chest. The woman then fled to a neighbor’s house and asked them to call the police. The woman was taken to the university clinics for treatment.

Hendrix was still at the woman’s house, police said. When the police arrived, they told him several times to come out and speak to them. Hendrix said he wanted to die and wanted the police to shoot him.

Finally, the police forced entry into the house and saw Hendrix lying face down with multiple stab wounds on the upper body and cuts on both wrists. An officer started providing first aid while waiting for EMS to arrive. Hendrix was taken to university hospitals where he was pronounced dead.
