YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown State University officials announced Wednesday that face-covering will be required indoors on campus regardless of vaccination status.
The mandate is effective immediately.

The decision follows a survey sent out to students and staff and a discussion with local and state health officials.
The survey found that about 77% of the 3,000+ responses suggest they are vaccinated against COVID-19.
The most frequently cited campus protocol was also suggested in the survey: “Masking would make me feel more secure.”
YSU’s union faculty protested last week when they thought the university couldn’t implement the masking protocol.
A vaccination clinic is planned on campus on Wednesday, September 8, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Thursday, September 9, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
