A steady stream of moisture flowing north from the Gulf of Mexico and an upper plain low pressure sliding east will create multiple showers and occasional thunderstorms until tonight, some of which include heavy rains.
A frontal system will slowly push east and bring in widespread rain before shifting east on Friday. Clouds and rain will keep temperatures down until the mid-1970s.
Drier conditions will develop on Friday, but some persistent humidity and more warming will result in mostly isolated storms in the late day that subside in the evening.
Real summer weather will prevail this weekend through early next week, with high pressure along the mid-Atlantic coast pumping warm southwest winds into the eastern half of the country. The high temperatures will reach 90 degrees a day for the first time this year. Humidity will gradually increase early next week, with isolated afternoon storms returning.
