YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A new business has sprung up in Youngstown and has two high school-aged kids behind it.
The bright colors are hard to miss at E. Evergreen Place, where Kennedi and Keith Smith, both 14 years old, opened a candy store.

The twins spent a lot of time in Youngstown. Her grandparents own the property on which her new candy store is located.
They got the idea when their mother told them about an old candy store that was closing on Glenwood Avenue.
“We started talking in our living room, talking only about old-fashioned sweets. There used to be a Candyland on Glenwood. My mother went there every day. They sold sweets at affordable prices. They have really good candy there. They are closed, so why not make a new one, right? ”Said Kennedi.
And that’s exactly what they did. According to Kennedi, they opened the store to provide a friendly and safe place for the kids in the neighborhood.
“A lot of children are not really allowed to walk around the streets because of this murder and stealing and such. We just hope that they get inspiration from it and maybe start their own business,” said Kennedi.
Keith says business has been going great for the first few days after it opened. With part of the profit he can even treat himself to something special.
“We make good money, so I’ll probably buy myself a pair of shoes afterwards. I’ll probably get some Jordans or something like that, ”Keith said.
The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The two siblings said they were very grateful for everyone’s love and support.
