Malia Magestro had a career height of 14 points for the Penguins when they won their fifth game in a row

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Catholic Kennedy graduate Malia Magestro hit a career high of 14 on Friday afternoon 88-78 when the Youngstown State Penguins led the UIC.

Magestro left the field 5 of 6, including 2-2 on 3-point attempts. Her previous career high was 8 at the beginning of this year.

YSU led by up to 16 in the third quarter but saw a lead of only 4.

But the Penguins would run a 13-3 run to expand their lead back to double digits at the start of the fourth quarter.

In total, five penguins reached double digits, with Nneka Obiazor taking the lead for YSU with 19 points, while McKenna Peters added 17, Mary Dunn 14 and Chelsea Olson added 10 points along with Magestros added 14 points.

YSU has now won five games in a row after losing the first four of the season.
