YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Secretary of State Kenneth Buggs, better known as “Kenny” Kenny, left this life on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.
He was born on Monday, May 31, 1953, to James Ester and Kathleen Ford Buggs.
Kenny was baptized at a young age in the Faith Temple COGIC under Elder David Minor. He was the first junior usher. He also sang in choirs (local, district and state). Kenny was educated in the Youngstown Public School System. He emigrated to Philadelphia, Florida. and eventually settled in St. Louis, Missouri.
Kenny joined the Saints Fellowship Mission Church, where he was an ordained minister, serving in men’s ministry and the pantry. He also laid the foundation for the substance abuse program; under the direction of the late Bishop Charlie Chatman while serving at the Saints Fellowship Mission Church.
To preserve his memory, he leaves behind a son, Kenny (Kameelah) Simms and a daughter; Regina Mayo, seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, six sisters; Lynn (Alan) Smith from Youngstown, Verdell Thorton and Mary (Derrick) Lockett from St. Louis, Missouri, Candice Richardson from Columbus, Cecilia Briggs from Louisville, Kentucky, and Toni Buggs from Stubenville, Ohio, two uncles; Joseph Ford and Sadiiq Shabazz and a sister-in-law, Linda Buggs Bevly, and guest nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special friend, Myra Ready.
Kenny had been preceded in death by his parents, his brother; James Buggs, his sister; Sherrie McKinney and grandson; David Clinkscale.
The agreements are made by the FD Mason Memorial Funeral Home.
